Boo Quilt Block

If you’re looking for a fun and easy project to add a little spookiness to your quilting, the Boo Quilt Block is the perfect choice! This delightful quilt block finishes at 12″ x 12″ and is ideal for the adventurous beginner who wants to experiment with different techniques while creating a charming ghost-themed design.

Perfect for the Adventurous Beginner

The Boo Quilt Block PDF Pattern is designed with the adventurous beginner in mind. It’s simple enough for those new to quilting but offers just the right amount of challenge to keep things interesting. With clear, step-by-step instructions and professional illustrations, you’ll find that this block comes together smoothly and easily.

Fabric Requirements and Options

To create one Boo Quilt Block, you’ll need less than a Fat Quarter for the ghost and larger scraps for the background. The eyes and mouth require only tiny scraps, making this a great project for using up those small pieces of fabric you’ve been saving. In this example, I used scraps from my fabric bin, including some leftover Halloween-themed fabric along with white and black fabrics. The pattern’s versatility allows you to choose any fabric combination that fits your style or the occasion.

Cutting and Assembling the Block

After selecting your fabrics, the next step is cutting out all the necessary pieces. I recommend using scraps from your fabric bin, just as I did. Once the pieces are cut, the block assembly is straightforward. The pattern includes split quarter square triangles, which add a unique touch to the design. I like to use my Creative Grids ruler for this step, as its clear markings help me achieve accurate piecing. I also love using my Oliso Mini Iron (called the M3Pro). It gets all hot and steamy at just the right places!

Finishing the Block

Once you’ve assembled the top of the head, the face of the ghost, and the mouth and bottom units, all that’s left is to add the sides. The result is a fun and friendly ghost that’s sure to bring a smile to anyone who sees it.

Creative Possibilities

The Boo Quilt Block is incredibly versatile. You can make just one block to create a small mini quilt, perfect for a festive wall hanging. Or, if you’re feeling ambitious, make several blocks to create a larger wall quilt, a fun table runner, or even an entire quilt. The possibilities are endless, and the results are always adorable!

Give It a Try!

I hope you’ll give the Boo Quilt Block Pattern a try. It’s a fun and easy pattern that’s perfect for adding a touch of Halloween spirit to your quilting projects. Whether you make one block or a whole bunch, this friendly ghost is sure to become a favorite in your quilt collection!
