Soup Bowl Cozy Swap

The Soup Bowl Cozy Swap is a wonderful opportunity to connect with fellow quilters and sewers while making something fun and practical. If you’re unfamiliar with a Soup Bowl Cozy, it’s a padded fabric holder that protects your hands from hot bowls, and it’s an excellent project for showing off your quilting skills. But the best part of this swap is the sense of community you’ll experience by joining. You’ll get the chance to meet new people who share your love of sewing and quilting, form friendships, and work on a project with a group of like-minded makers.

What to make

This is a “Maker’s Choice” swap, which means you have the creative freedom to construct your Soup Bowl Cozy however you like. You only need to make (1) bowl cozy, but they are so fun and easy to make that you can make more if you want!

Each participant will share their preferences, allowing you to customize your package based on what your swap partner loves. You can make something that feels personal and thoughtful, and if you enjoy international swaps, you can opt to ship your cozy worldwide since we welcome participants from around the globe. We have a post that is full of inspiration right HERE.

Swap Angels

We also have swap angels in place, so if a participant can’t complete their swap, these generous volunteers will step in and make sure no one is left out. This doesn’t happen often, but it’s our way of ensuring that every quilter has a great experience. However, we really stress the importance of communication with your partner. Open and regular communication helps avoid any confusion or misunderstandings and is key to a successful swap. In our swaps, partners are not kept a surprise—they know who each other are right from the start, which gives them the chance to connect and build a fun quilting friendship.

This connection makes it less likely that a swap angel will be needed, as most partners take pride in keeping each other in the loop and enjoy creating a bond through the shared experience. Strong communication leads to a smoother swap and a more enjoyable experience for everyone involved!

Swap Swag

Swap swag is a fun, voluntary tradition that allows participants to send a little extra something to their swap partner. While it’s not required, many quilters love adding a small gift to their packages.

This could be something simple like a tube of Chapstick, a sewing notion, or any thoughtful touch that’s easy to ship. The idea is to brighten your partner’s day with a special treat, without adding too much weight or expense. It’s just a fun way to add a bit more joy to the swapping experience!

Swap Community

To keep the fun going, we have a Facebook community where participants can share their progress, post pictures of the packages they’ve made and received, and ask questions.

It’s a fantastic way to interact with other quilters and celebrate each other’s creativity. Once you join the swap, you will receive a PDF Download that links to a google form. In that google form, you will also receive a link to our Facebook community group.

Swap Zoom Party

The swap wraps up with a Zoom Party on 12/11/2024, where participants can show off what they received from their partners, share their swap stories, and connect with other quilters.

This party is always a highlight of the swap, bringing everyone together to celebrate the fun and friendships formed through the experience.

Don’t delay—grab your spot and join the fun today!
