Friendly Phantoms QAL Recap
As we close out the Friendly Phantoms QAL, let’s reflect on an amazing eight weeks together. This Quilt-A-Long brought quilters together from all over, each one working toward a spooky quilt top ready for Halloween. From choosing fabric to assembling the quilt top, every step of the Friendly Phantoms QAL built excitement and helped us stay on track. Each week, new steps were shared in our community, and participants celebrated each ghostly milestone. The Friendly Phantoms QAL Recap highlights not only the quilts but the vibrant community that made it all come alive.
Kicking Off with Pattern and Fabric Choices
The QAL began with quilters choosing their pattern format—PDF, paper booklet, or On-Demand Video Course. Each format allowed participants to follow along in the way that suited them best.
Once the pattern was ready, the focus turned to fabric selection. Kits were available from The Fabric Chic, Sew Enchanting Equine, and Sew Much Moore, each one hand-picked to complement the Friendly Phantoms pattern. The excitement grew as participants shared photos of their fabric choices in the Facebook group. Seeing everyone’s color choices set the stage for a unique, creative experience. This is one of the reasons I love this Friendly Phantoms QAL recap – we get to see everyone’s fabric choices!
A Community Focused on Success and Precision
The next step involved cutting fabric, an essential phase that set the tone for precision. Week three’s prize from Creative Grids, awarded to Angela, helped motivate the community. With their cutting mats and tools ready, quilters tackled the fabric pieces for their ghostly blocks.
Tips and tricks filled the group posts, with participants sharing how to make the most of their tools. The support from others made this task feel manageable and even fun, reinforcing the Friendly Phantoms QAL’s commitment to an enjoyable quilting journey.
Bringing the Ghosts to Life: Ghost #1
Week four marked the start of piecing Ghost #1, a big moment for everyone. Participants were thrilled to see the first ghostly figure taking shape. Laurie, Heather, and Cristina, our prize winners for this week, celebrated with tools from the Daylight Company, Oliso, and Aurifil Threads.
Their excitement spread throughout the group, inspiring everyone to keep moving forward. Quilters posted progress pictures, sharing each completed block and cheering each other on. By focusing on one ghost at a time, the Friendly Phantoms QAL kept everyone moving steadily.
Adding More Ghosts: The Excitement Builds
The momentum continued with Ghost #2, and our Facebook group came alive with posts. Each participant’s unique approach to the ghost blocks showcased the endless possibilities within the Friendly Phantoms QAL.
Winners Amber, Jen, and Susan received prizes from the Daylight Company, Oliso, and Aurifil Threads, adding to the excitement. Week by week, participants connected, giving advice and encouraging each other. As more ghosts appeared, so did a sense of accomplishment and pride in each quilt block.
Completing the Final Ghost Blocks
By the time we reached Ghosts #3 and #4, the quilts were well underway. Winners Sheila, Bethany, and Rebecca received prizes like the Halo Go Lamp and TG1600 Pro Plus Smart Iron, enhancing their quilting experience.
These final ghost blocks marked the last stretch of piecing, bringing every quilter closer to their completed quilt top. Brenda, Courtney, and Andrea celebrated wins with tools from Sariditty and ironMATIK. Each finished ghost block added personality, making each quilt top truly unique. The community continued to offer support and encouragement, pushing each participant to the finish line.
Final Steps: Assembling the Quilt Top
The final week focused on assembling the quilt top, bringing each quilter’s vision to life. With tools from Juki and SewTites, participants felt prepared to finish their quilts. Winners Amy, Karen, and Melissa celebrated their new quilting accessories, which will support future projects as well. The Friendly Phantoms QAL group was abuzz with completed quilt tops, each one a testament to the dedication and creativity of the quilters involved. By Halloween, many had completed their tops, ready for display in time for the season.
Celebrating the Friendly Phantoms QAL Community
The Friendly Phantoms QAL created a true quilting community. From the start, participants connected, shared tips, and encouraged each other through every step. Quilters came together, not just for the quilt but for the joy of working alongside others. Each fabric cut, ghost block, and assembled quilt top showed the dedication and support that defined this QAL. As we look back on this experience, it’s clear that the community spirit was the most rewarding part of the Friendly Phantoms QAL.
